Hi Jay,
You just came to mind while I was practicing my clarinet today. I knew you from Eastman. I was in the class of ’72. Although I was a clarinet major I played as much Tenor saxophone in the Jazz Ensemble and gigging around Rochester.
I was happy find your website and see that you’ve had a full musical career. Congratulations. I enjoyed listening to some of your compositions.
I spent most of my post ESM life recording in NYC and performing around the world but co-founded a music school 18 years ago. Keeps me busy.
Best,
Charlie “Fuzz” Lagond
Hi Charlie:
Well, thanks so much for thinking of me! I remember your fine tenor chops in the jazz ensemble. Didn’t you go on to play with the Lionel Hampton band ? I pleased to hear about your success.
I’ve done numerous music related jobs over the years but composing has been my anchor.
I owe a lot to my experience at Eastman for instilling in me a drive and focus that sticks with me ’till today. I might not have had the most stellar music career but I fell I’ve had a rewarding one nonetheless.
Take care, be well.
Jay
